Grandparents.

Grandparents.

Grandparents are so special! I grew up a military brat, so I didn't see my grandparents all the time like most kids, but when I did, I loved it! Summers at Grandma and Grandpa Hollmann's in the country were some of my favorite childhood memories.

Grandpa taught me how to dig for worms, fish, filet fish, shuck corn, and how to operate a riding lawn mower. I was not great at driving back then, either, and grandpa had to yell "WHOA WHOA WHOA" a few times to tell me to slow down. LOL

Grandma gives the best hugs and I loved "going to town" with her during our summer visits. She made sure the laundry was done and lunch was prepared at noon sharp! My friends were also often invited for dinner (lunch) but grandma made sure to let them know no hats at the dinner table!!

Gardening is in my blood. My grandpa was a great gardener. Growing up I remember being so fascinated by all that my grandparents grew in their garden. Of course, they grew the basics, but they would also grow fun gourds and I just thought they were so cool!

I wish I would have taken to gardening when I was younger. I could have learned so much from Grandpa! It wasn't til my late 20s that I found my love for plants and gardening.

In 2021, I decided to try growing gourds myself and fell in love with the Luffa plant! It grows a beautiful vine and flowers that attract bees and hummingbirds!

I got my love for gardening from my Grandpa Ralph, my talent in painting from my Grandma Lornie, and from my Grandma Elaine...my spitfire personality. I never met my Grandpa Gale, but I like to think there's something in me that I got from him. I am so thankful for my grandparents!
